Excellent LEGO Set!

| The only LEGO Set I have that is better than this is the Johnny Thunder Dragon Fortress. This is a very fun set to play with. It has great functions and the characters are really good. It has two of my favorite villains (Penguin and Mr. Freeze) and some cool Good Guys. The only thing I was disappointed about was that it didn't come with Riddler (because he's my favorite villain). Otherwise this is a very good set and I highly recommend it. And after all, I can't be too disappointed about Riddler because he comes in the Arkham Asylum set. |
Holy Cow Batman!

Other then getting a headache building the set with my son, its over 1000 pieces, I have no complaints. It has become the central focus of his super hero obsession and his bedroom. None of the components are difficult to build, and although the spiral staircase is cool its is a bit poorly designed because it often "collapses" with rough play. In addition while the rotating car pad is pretty neat, expect that one single lego in the middle to get broken the second a younger child trys to spin the platform by hand. But onto the good things; the detail is excellent from the computer screens to the joker bomb in the glass case. Mr. Freeze is just about the coolest lego man I have seen, you get a classic gray Batman, Robin, The Penguin, a penquin sub, a snowmobile for Robin, a larger snowmocar for Batman and a penguin sub. My only grip is there is nothing for Mr. Freeze to ride/drive but if your child is anything like mine that will be remedied in short order.
It would have been nice if they had labeled the bags like the Batmobile/Two-Face Chase set, 1000+ legos are difficult to sort through, but if you are prepared for that then this set is more than worth the price and your child will love it for years to come. |
Challenging construction, limited toy

| My son saved for months to get this ever since he spotted it in his Lego magazine. As another reviewer indicated, it would be nice if they put all the pieces for a particular unit in a bag and labeled it as such. One ship/car/building/person spread out over 5 bags can get a little monotonous in a 1000+ piece set. Regardless, he joys in getting a new toy everyday (I'm pacing myself to a vehicle a day). Obviously components are not glued tight and with play will fall apart. Lego's can typically be better for 'looking at' rather than 'playing with'. My six and seven year olds' occasionally have problems connecting the pieces as well. I don't know if it is a hand/eye thing or strength issue, but it allows good father/son time to devote to a complex project. |
