Great toy but too expensive on Amazon

| This is a great toy with hours/days/months of lots of fun in building and playing, but the price here is ridiculous. The real price is $399.99 on all other sites, so please, Amazon, adjust your price or we'll buy elsewhere. |
Best Christmas Ever!

I bought this for my 8 year old for Christmas - and it was the best Christmas ever! My son loves Lego Star Wars and spends hours and hours entertaining himself with the various sets. He had been dreaming about this Lego set ever since it was presented in the catalog - which he studies regularly.
This is the ULTIMATE Lego Star Wars entertainment weapon of mass satisfaction. Building it took 3 days and occupied every flat surface in our living room / dining room. The best part was that the instructions are set up so that the different rooms / levels are completed one at a time. So we'd build for a while, play for a while, continue building etc. The prison block is very cleverly done. Everyone in the family participated so it was a wonderful shared experience.
Yeah, it's wicked expensive, but I figured it is a once in a life time experience, and this lego set exceeded all expectations. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Though at a certain point, you have to stop building and sort the pieces by color / type or you will lose your mind trying to find all the pieces.
One small complaint - we couldn't find about 8 - 10 pieces. Perhaps 4 were because we used the wrong pieces at the wrong time (based on pieces left over). But there were a few missing pieces which we had to scrounge from our Lego inventory on hand. But all the critical / unique pieces were all there, and anyone taking on this project should have a certain amount of Lego experience prior to making the attempt. |
Great Lego Product

12 year old,Son saved up his money & bought this for himself. He took his time & took him a little over a month to finish it. Very sad when finished it. He could have built it in a week if he didn't want to enjoy every step.
He spent all his money & happy with his purchase, but wanted the fun to last as long as it took him to save....but, overall recommend it. Has many other star wars lego kits & now has built the ultimate. |
fun- long lasting

| Santa brought this gift that my son had asked for, for the last 6 months. Though he is below the age range, he has been progressing with it nicely. He was upset that he could not find the lego "guys" capes, so I helped him look through all the clear bags twice and AHAH they were in a small (about the size that would fit a silver dollar) white box. Be prepared to give up your dining room table for a month... |
You may fire when ready!

This Death Star is cool. But the super laser cannon does fall apart sometimes. It is really heavy. Instead of Darth Vader's Tie Advanced fighter, they could've added two black suited imperial officers and a regular imperial officer. It has a lot of great functions such as, the walls that close in on your characters in the trash compactor, moving the turbo laser, moving the platform in the hanger.
The set comes with many different characters from the Emperor to Grand Moff Tarkin. It comes with and assassin droid as well. However, the assassin droid was not in the movies in the Death Star scenes.
Like all legos, I must add, this one is VERY expensive. I won't complain about the cost of the product here, but I will say that they are all over priced.
I recommend buying this set either for your collection as a collector, or for your kid. I had mowed many lawns and collected many plastic bottles to get this toy....with the help of my parents. |
